Contracts Specialist

Overview:

Our client is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Legal and Contracts Advisor to join their legal and compliance team. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience in contract review and qualification, with a strong understanding of contract law principles in the oil and gas sector. As a Legal and Contracts Advisor, you will be responsible for reviewing and analysing contractual agreements, serving as the focal point for contract reviews and client negotiations, and managing various contract-related activities to ensure compliance with company policies and legal regulations.

Responsibilities:

• Review, prepare, and record contract qualifications for client contract terms
• Act as the focal point for the review, qualification, and acceptance of purchase orders
• Liaise with insurers to ensure appropriate coverage and compliance with company guidelines
• Notify relevant internal parties of accepted contracts or orders and ensure a clear handover of obligations
• Maintain regular communication with the Legal & Compliance Director and Business Development team
• Review and respond to supplier qualifications or exceptions to standard purchase terms
• Support the drafting and development of company documents, policies, and procedures
• Engage, instruct, and maintain relationships with external legal counsel as required
• Oversee the contract management database, ensuring timely rate escalations and contract reviews
• Prepare and submit allocated prequalification questionnaires
• Support the implementation and delivery of the company’s compliance program
• Assist in managing the company’s intellectual property portfolio, including patents and trademarks
• Participate in allocated tendering activities, ensuring compliance with bid plans and submission requirements
• Assist in managing and resolving contractual disputes with clients and suppliers
• Ensure all activities meet audit requirements and comply with company policies, ethical standards, and UK/EU legislation

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in contract review and qualification
• Good knowledge and experience of contract law principles in the oil and gas sector
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills
• Strong attention to detail and record keeping
• Commercial acumen
• Demonstrable experience in oil and gas contract roles
