Job Description
Overview
We are seeking a Principal Structural Engineer to provide technical leadership and coordination across multi-disciplinary engineering teams throughout the full project life cycle.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering within the energy sector, particularly in offshore and energy projects.
Responsibilities
- Act as the subject matter expert for structural engineering, ensuring the delivery of high-quality and compliant project deliverables.
- Coordinate with procurement, fabrication, and construction teams to deliver engineering solutions aligned with client requirements.
- Serve as a technical interface between various teams and ensure integrated designs across disciplines.
- Drive innovation through the implementation of new technologies and engineering best practices.
- Identify opportunities for optimization, cost reduction, and improved efficiency in engineering solutions.
- Lead and mentor less experienced engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
- Conduct engineering risk assessments and ensure adherence to Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies.
- Support the commercial and technical bidding process by estimating engineering project budgets and managing project budgets effectively.
Qualifications / Requirements / Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Civil, or related discipline). A Master’s degree is preferred but not essential.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or working towards chartership with a recognized institution is preferred but not essential.
- Engineering experience within the energy sector, preferably in offshore and energy projects.
- Strong experience in EPCI project execution, with an understanding of the full lifecycle from concept to completion.
- Technical expertise in energy engineering, including knowledge of design principles, codes, standards, and construction methodologies.
- Demonstrable experience in industry standard engineering software.
- Problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating project risks.
- High level of accountability and a collaborative team player.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
